Kitchen Helper

Summary:
The Kitchen Helper is an integral part of the kitchen team at Chimiking Restaurant, providing support to chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure a well-organized and efficient kitchen operation. They assist in basic tasks related to the preparation and serving of food, cleaning, and other kitchen maintenance duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist chefs and other kitchen staff in various tasks including the preparation of food ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area by sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and ensuring all work areas are free from hazards.
• Help in the arrangement and storage of food and kitchen supplies.
• Follow proper food handling and hygiene practices to maintain a sanitary kitchen environment.
• Load and unload dishwashers, ensuring all kitchen utensils, and cookware are cleaned and stored properly.
• Assist in inventory control, notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
• Help with the receipt and storage of deliveries in an organized and timely manner.
• Assist with the setting up and breaking down of kitchen stations.
• Perform other routine kitchen tasks as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper, Dishwasher or similar entry-level role in a kitchen is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, and lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, during weekends, and holidays.
• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
